A very largely attended funeral was held here at the Breckenridge-Ashcroft Funeral Home on Monday afternoon for the late William J. McGregor of Annan, who passed away in Owen Sound at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Douglas Vermilyea, early Saturday morning. Rev. Arthur Reynolds of Annan United Church conducted the service, which was followed by interment in Leith Cemetery.
The pallbearers were G.J. Lemon, George A. Scott, E. Morrison, Herbert Baker, Beaton McGillis and Temple Day. There were a number of attractive floral tributes.
Members of the Loyal Orange Lodge No. 896 of Balaclava attended the service in a body and conducted a special service at the graveside, at which William Miller of Bognon, Past Grand Master of Ontario West, officiated. Visiting brothers from Owen Sound Lodge No. 846 and the Bognor Lodge were also in attendance to honour the memory of this old member of Balaclave Lodge.
Friends from a distance who attended the last rites included H. C. McGregor and Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Morrison of Fergus and George A. MacKay of Toronto. He was buried on 3 May 1948 at Leith Cemetery in Leith, Ontario, Canada. LEITH CEMETERY
