"Gordon Sherritt
Mr. Gordon Sherritt, a highly respected resident of Corbetton, passed away early Tuesday morning, June 10th, 1969, in Markdale Hospital.
He was born at Ennotville in Nichol Township, on September 5, 1884. He was the son of Farquharson Sherritt and Susan Cook.
In 1904 he came to Corbetton district where he farmed until 1959 when he moved to Dundalk. In January, 1965, he suffered a stroke. On his release from the hospital in June, 1965, he made his home with the Aldcorns at Corbetton.
He was married October 28, 1908, to Mary Stewart of Corbetton, who passed away in January 1954.
He is survived by two daughters: Isabel (Mrs. Stephen Aldcorn) of Corbetton, and Susie (Mrs. Maxwell Whalls) of Paris also seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Four sisters and three brothers predeceased him. These were: Jennie (Mrs. George Wilson); Eliza (Mrs. John Campbell); Ethel (Mrs. William Gott); Christena (Mrs. George Stewart); John, Archie and Harry.
Mr. Sherritt was a member of Corbetton United Church and served on the Board of Stewards in earlier years. He was a life member of Corbetton Lodge, of which he served as treasurer for several years. He was also a member of the R.B.P. No. 1091. A combined memorial service was held by these organizations.
The body rested at the home of Stephen Aldcorn, Corbetton, until Thursday, June 12, when the service was held in the Gamble Funeral Home, Shelburne. The service was conducted by Rev. Hugh Mactaggart of Corbetton United Church, with interment in Shelburne Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Guy Chandler, Chelan, Wash.; Raymond Quarrier, Riverview; Jack Grey and Wes. Sherritt, Dundalk; Edgar Merkley and Harvey Funston of Corbetton.
Flowerbearers were Stan McCosh, Weston; George Stewart, Hamilton; Hilton Dickson, Burlington; Joe Jibb, New Liskeard; Bert Sheppard, Willowdale; Tom Houston, Riverview; Orville Patton, Shelburne; Donald Stewart and George Stewart, Corbetton.
Friends were present from New Liskeard, Mount Forest, Hamilton, Chelan, Wash.; Alliston, Burlington, Brampton, Willowdale, Cooksville, Toronto Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Georgetown, Shelburne, Dundalk, Guelph, Fergus, Elora, St. Thomas and Port Stanley." Born October 26, 1909 to Gordon and Mary Sherritt of Corbetton, she spent most of her life in the Dundalk area. She married Stephen Aldcorn on October 18, 1930 in Corbetton, who survives her. Also mourning is one daughter, Marion Bell, and one son, Gordon Aldcorn, and grandchildren Debbie (Mrs. Kim Gordon), Stephen Rawn and his wife Barb, and great-grandchildren Amanda and Anne.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Helen Young, and a sister, Susie Whalls.
The funeral was held May 4th at the McMillan and Jack Funeral Home in Dundalk, conducted by Rev. Ellen Turley. Interment took place in Shelburne.
Pallbearers were Alex Aldcorn, Doug Allen, Hilton Dickson, Scott Funston, Ken McLaren and Danny Rawn. Flowerbearers were Mary Rice, Linda O'Connor, Paulette Ryan, Joe, Wes and Mary Whalls.

Family History Library Microfilm: MS932_15 I have searched high and low and I have never found the family in the 1881 census. They had left Ontario for the west by that time, and were living nr. Minnedosa, Manitoba, but I've not been able to find them there. They did move around a fair bit, however. For instance, Jean Shortreed (Thomas's wife) came back to Ontario to have her third child, Thomas Jr., that is why he is shown as being born in Ontario. Margaret was born in Manitoba.
