At the Baptist Church parsonage, Leith, on Saturday at 5 p.m. the marriage was solemnized of Marion Althea, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Day of Annan, and Mr. Douglas B. Stewart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Stewart of Balaclava. The pastor, Rev. J. W. Edwards, officiated.
The bride was charming in a graceful gown of coral shade crepe with shoulder knot of Ophelia roses. There were no attendants. A reception for the immediate relatives of the two families, numbering about 20, was held at the home of the bride's parents. The bride's mother, Mrs. Day, received in a gown of poudre blue crepe. The groom's mother was also gowned in blue. The table was decked with silver vases of pink daisy-mums and matching candles. The bride's cake in a mist of tulle occupied a separate table. The assistants in serving were the bride's two sisters, Misses Donelda and Beatrice Day, Mrs. Alex Nichol and Miss Flora Nichol.
Later the bride donned a smart black woolen gown with bright trim, smart black hat and black accessories and grey coat with fur. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart will reside on the groom's farm at Vail's Point." CORBETTON, May 26 - Dougle Stewart, a well known resident of Corbetton, died suddenly on Saturday morning following a heart attack. He was in his 71st year. Mr. Stewart had not been in the best of health for some time, but he had been up and around every day.
Mr. Stewart resided for some years on White Cloud Island before moving to a farm in Melancthon Township. He later moved into Corbetton where he was a rural mail courier for almost 30 years. He was also Corbetton Postmaster for many years.
Mr. Stewart was twice married. His first wife was the former Bella Bolis. Surviving from that marriage are 3 daughters, Lizzie, Mrs. Calvin Phillips of Kirkland Lake; Anges, Mrs. James Donnelly and May, Mrs. George Alton, both of Toronto, and one son Fred of Toronto.

"Duncan Stewart, an old resident of the Back Line, Melancthon, died at his home on Christmas Day, after a lengthy illness. Some years ago he moved to White Cloud Island, near Wiarton, where he had some property and resided there until he was taken ill early last summer when he was brought back to the old homestead. He is survived by his widow, who is a daughter of the late Baliff Marshall, who was murdered at Loretta, Adjala, 1873, also four sons and three daughters. The sons are George A., Fred and Duncan Stewart of Melancthon and Dougal Stewart of White Cloud Island. The daughters are Mrs. Gordon Sherritt, Melancthon; Mrs. Edgar Fines, Erin; Mrs. Herbert Gardiner, North Keppel. "Death of Duncan Stewart, Sr.
At an early hour Christmas morning there passed from our midst an old and respected citizen, in the person of Duncan Stewart, sr. The late Mr. Stewart took a paralytic stroke on July 20th last and since then had been confined to his bed most of the time. He was one of the early settlers in the township of Melancthon, and experienced the hardships of pioneer life.
About fifteen years ago he moved to White Cloud Island and had lived there since unitl July 17th last when he returned to the old home. He is survived by his widow, Isabella Marshall, whom he married 52 years ago. Four sons and four daughters also survive, namely Duncan, jr., John Frederick and George A. of Corbetton, and Dougal N. M., of White Cloud Island; Mrs. H. Gardiner of North Keppel, Mrs. Edgar Fines of Erin, Mrs. Gordon Sherritt of Corbetton, and Mrs. R. G. Cameron of Owen Sound. The funeral, which was largely attended, was held to Shelburne Cemetery on Monday afternoon, Dec. 27th, Rev. G. W. Rose conducting the service at the house and grave. The pallbearers were Duncan, John Frederick, Geo., and Dougal, sons of the deceased, and Gordon Sherritt and Edgar Fines, sons-in-law. Death of Duncan Stewart Occurs at Edmonton
The death of a former resident of this city, Duncan Stewart, occurred at Edmonton recently. The late Mr. Stewart, who was a native of Orangeville, lived here for several years, but moved to Medicine Hat in 1917, goto from there to Stettler in 1921 and moving north to Grand Prairie, Alta., in 1928. He had taken a deep interest in the life of the community, had represented his division on the council of the Bear Lake municipality for four years and had been active in the U.F.A. movement.
The late Mr. Stewart's death occurred at the University Hospital, Edmonton, He had been ill for several months, but was believed on the road to recovery when death came.
Surviving to mourn his death are his mother, Mrs. Leticia Stewart of Sydenham; five brothers, Edward of Stettler, Alta.; John, Daniel and Allen of Sydenham and William of St. Vincent, and three sisters, Mrs. Lizzie McNally of Owen Sound, Mrs. A. M. Day at Bowell, Alta., and Mrs. Jeannette Leach at Stettler, Alta.
His wife and five children, three sons, Russell in the Flying Scot district, Alta., Gordon, Duncan, Jean and Marie at home, also survive.

"SANDY STEWART
Corbetton Area Farmer Dies
A respected resident of Melancthon Tp., in the person of Duncan Alexander (Sandy) Stewart, passed away as the result of a coronary on Sunday, April 9, 1967. He was 63.
Born Jan. 11, 1904, with the exception of two years spent in Western Canada and four years in Brampton district, he spent his entire life on the farm where he passed away. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John F. Stewart, he leaves to mourn three sisters: Violet, Mrs. Harold White of Guelph; Alice, Mrs. George McLaren, Corbetton; Annie, Mrs. Hilton Dickson, Burlington; three brothers: William J. Stewart of Dundalk; Donald of Corbetton, and George of Hamilton. He was predeceased by a brother, John F. in 1966, and a sister Luella, in 1912. He was unmarried.
"Sandy" as he was known, attended public school at S.S. No. 14 (Corbetton) and was an adherent of Corbetton United Church. He had also been a member of L.O.L. No. 353, Corbetton, and R.B.P. No. 1091, Dundalk. Following the death of his mother seven years ago he took over the home farm and his brother, Donald, made his home with him. He was a devoted son to his aged and invalid mother for many years until her passing. He was a good neighbour and enjoyed his work on the farm. He was fond of animals and always had a fine flock of sheep.
The funeral conducted by Rev. Hugh MacTaggart of Corbetton United Church, was held on April 12 from the McMillan Funeral Home in Dundalk. Mr. Almer Allen, a life-long friend sang a beautiful solo, "No Night There", accompanied by Mrs. John Dolmer on the piano.
Interment was in the family plot in Shelburne Cemetery. His closest neighbours were pallbearers, namely: Harvey Funston, Stephen Aldcorn, Jim Pilkie, Ralph Arnold, George Stewart, and a nephew, Kenneth McLaren. The flowers were carried by nieces and nephews.
The beautiful floral tributes and donations to Heart Foundation, Cancer Fund and Gideon Bibles showed the high esteem in which he was held by relatives, neighbours and friends." [The Dundalk Herald, April 27, 1967]

Truck Hit By Snowplow
Duncan Harry C. Stewart of Keldon died Thursday, June 17, 1976, in Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto, in his 23rd year. His death followed an accident last March, when the truck he was driving was struck by a railway snowplow at Corbetton. His wife and two children, who were passengers in the truck, suffered injuries. He had been hospitalized since the accident.
Born July 13, 1953, in Proton Township, he was a son of Neil Stewart and the former Lorna McIntosh. Most of his life was spent in Keldon area. He was employed as a welder at General Steel Wares, Fergus, in the Freezer Divison, at the time of the accident.
On July 28, 1973, he married Shirley Ann Bolton, by whom he is survived, with two daughters, Kimberly Dawn and Joanne Elizabeth, of Keldon, also by his parents. He also leaves three sisters, Donna, Mrs. R. Robinson, Anna, Mrs. J. Latondress, Dianne, and a brother, James.
He was a member of Keldon United Church.
Last rites were held Monday, June 21, at the Gamble Funeral Home, Shelburne, conducted by Rev. Hugh Mactaggart of Shelburne.
Interment was in Shelburne Cemetery, with the following serving as pall-bearers: Leonard Dally, Jim Acheson, Neil Banks, Orley Francis, Sam Bolton and Chas. Sommerville.
Flower-bearers were Valerie and Connie Stewart, Paul and Penny Lewis, and Peter Bolton.

Campbell and Mrs. H. Scace, Riverview. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of the community." "John Alexander Corbett was born in 1844 in the Township of King and County of York. He died November 13, 1925 in Riverview at the age oe 82. He was one of Melancthons older residents and pioneer. John A. Corbetts parents imigrated to Canada from ireland in the early 1800's.
In 1850 John A. Corbett and his family, which included his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters, moved to West Garafraxa Township. In 1860 they moved to Melancthon Township in Dufferin County.
In 1866 John A. married Elizabeth Stewart of Mono Mills, who was born in 1846 and died April 5 1918, at the age of 72.
John A. Corbett was a charter member of the Sons of Temperence for many years. In his active years he was a Conservative in politics and a Presbyterian in religin. He was Sunday School Superintendent of the Orange Hall at Riverview from 1905 till 1910. He was a long time member of the L.O.L. 258.
After moving from their farm on Concession 6 in Melancthon Township into Riverview, Elizabeth continued to raise a few pigs and chickens and geese for their own use as a means of food. She also kept a cow for milking.
Both John A. and Elizabeth are buried at the Shelburne Cemetary.

Stewart of Owen Sound. The funeral will be held to Big Bay cemetery today, at 3 o'clock, the Rev. Mr. Nicol of Wiarton, officiating. "Last Rites are Held For Mrs. Wm. McNally
The funeral of the late Mrs. Wm. McNally, well known Owen Sound resident and native of Sydenham Township, was held on Tuesday afternoon from the Breckenridge-Ashcroft Funeral Home to Greenwood Cemetery here. The late Mrs. McNally died suddenly at her home here on Sunday evening. She would have marked her 71st birthday on Monday.
In the absence of her minister, Rev. Ralph P. Clark of the First Baptist Church here, the funeral service was conducted by Rev. P. R. Sawatzky, minister of Strathaven Baptist Church. The funeal was very largely attended, the Funeral Home being filled, with some outside. Many beautiful floral tributes bore testimony to the high esteem in which deceased had been held by a host of friends. The flower-bearers were Gordon Kingston, Hector McNally, Fred Stewart Clifford Leach, Elgin Kingston, and Morrison Stewart. "MRS. WM. McNALLY PASSES ON SUNDAY
A native daughter of Sydenham Township and a resident of Owen Sound for the past 13 years, Mrs. William McNally died suddenly at her home at 716 8th St. E. on Sunday evening. Mrs. McNally's 71st birthday would have occurred on Monday, June 27.
Although handicapped by partial paralysis, the result of a stroke eight years ago, Mrs. McNally was active in Women's Institute and church work, and was well-known for her unfailing good spirits. Before moving to Owen Sound she was a member of Leith and Daywood Baptist Churches, and was a member of First Baptist Church here.
Formerly Elizabeth Stewart, Mrs. McNally was born on the 5th Line in Sydenham Twp., a daughter of the late Donald and Lettitia Bryans Stewart. She was married on Feb. 26th, 1902, at Balaclave, to William McNally who predeceased her on Oct. 31st., 1946. One daughter, Villa, Mrs. Alec (Sandy) Morrison of Bognor and one son, William T. McNally, now living on the family farm in Sydenham, survive. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. William Leach of Owen Sound and Mrs. Aubrey Day of Bowe[?], Alta., and five brothers: Donald Stewart of Balaclava, John and Alec Stewart of Annan, Edwin Stewart of Owen Sound and William Stewart of Woodford.

"Ernest Stewart Passes Suddenly
Ernest Stewart, 450 8th St. West, died suddenly at his home Tuesday. He had been a resident of Owen Sound since 1923.
Born in Sydenham township, Mr. Stewart was the son of William and Mary Ramsay Stewart. In 1923, he married Elsie Smith in Emsdale, who died July 5, 1959. Mr. Stewart, a former bricklayer and stonemason, retired in 1959.
Surviving are four sons and five daughters, Ernest, William and Robert, all of Owen Sound, David, at home, Elsie, Mrs. C. Stewart, at home, Eleanor, Mrs. E. McNabb, Doreen, Mrs. G. Barclay and Alice, Mrs. S. Smith, all of Owen Sound, Mary, Mrs. R. King, Weston, and one sister, Mae, Mrs. N. Hartley, Markdale. There are 23 grandchildren. One son, Donald, a brother, Fred, and two sisters, Julia, Mrs. William McGregor and Mary, Mrs. W. Walsh are now dead.

CORBETTON - The funeral of Mrs. Herbert Gardner of Riverview was held from Riverview United Church with a large attendance of relatives and friends. Rev. W. J. Cook had charge of the service.
Mrs. Gardner died in the Owen Sound G. and M. Hospital following a stroke. She was in her 74th year. Born in Melancthon Township, she was the former Frances Stewart, eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Stewart of Corbetton.
In 1902 she married Herbert Gardner of North Keppel where they farmed until moving to the Corbetton district. Three years ago they retired to Riverview.
Mrs. Gardner is survived by her husband, two daughters, Doris, Mrs. John Scace of Riverview; Mary, Mrs. Orville Patton of Shelburne; Stewart of Grand Valley; John of Maxwell; Marshall and Neil Gardner of Corbetton; and one foster son, Ivan Keith of Corbetton. There are 17 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. There are three sisters, Annette, Mrs. Edgar Fines of Mount Forest; Mary, Mrs. Gordon Sherritt of Corbetton; Sara, Mrs. Charles Stewart of Owen Sound. Four brothers predeceased her, George, Duncan, Fred and Dougal Stewart, all of Corbetton.
There were many floral tributes surrounding the casket at the funeral. The pall-bearers were Wm. Johnson, Harold Donkin, Milfred Fluney, Thomas Johnston, Wm. Donkin and Hugh McCauley.
