Roderick George Cameron was born about 1884 in Keppel Township, Grey County, Ontario, Canada. He died on 11 April 1924 in White Cloud Island, Ontario, Canada. His death was possibly April 11, 1924.

"WHITE CLOUD ISLAND MAN DIED SUDDENLY
Mr. George Cameron Ill Only a Few Days With Pneumonia; Served Overseas
Mr. George Cameron, well known resident of White Cloud Island, passed away very suddenly at 3 o'clock on Friday morning. He had been ill only a few days with pneumonia, and his death came quite unexpectedly. The late Mr. Cameron was very well known in North Keppel, Wiarton, as well as in Owen Sound, and his sudden death, when he was in the prime of life, will be a great shock to his friends.
He was born about 40 years ago in North Keppel, a short distance from Big Bay, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Cameron, of White Cloud Island. The late Mr. Cameron has been a resident of White Cloud Island, where he had a farm, for about twenty years. He saw service overseas. He enlisted in Owen Sound with the 147th Battalion and went overseas with that unit later being transferred to a construction battalion, where he held the rank of sergeant. During his service overseas, the family resided in Owen Sound.
About sixteen years ago he was married to Miss Sarah Stewart, who survives, with four children, Isobel, Sadie, Annie and Stewart, the latter being but four years of age. Isobel is a student at the Owen Sound Collegiate Institute.
Mr. Cameron was very widely known in the district, and his death will be the source of deep regret to many friends. In the army he was a good soldier and in civilian life he was a good citizen. In religion he was a Presbyterian.
Arrangements for the funeral are not complete." [newspaper clipping, April 11 ?, 1924]

Spouse: Margaret MacPhail-2313. Margaret MacPhail and William Cameron were married on 17 October 1815 in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, at the Trinity Anglican Church. Children were: Margaret Cameron-2314, Margaret Cameron-2315.

William Cameron was born in March 1824. 1. In trying to figure out William Cameron and Margaret Cameron, I am using notes provided by Jane Quigley, who has produced the "Descendants of Angus Cameron", along with the 1881 and 1901 Canadian Census, and the listing for the St. Michaels Cemetery, Irish Block, Sydenham Township.

2. Jane lists a Margaret Cameron, born to Donald Cameron & Lucy MacMillan Family 14. iv. w/o a birth date. Died 29 Nov 1903.
Other siblings born are iii. 15 Jul 1822; vi. 20 Sep 1832; & viii. 4 Sep 1839. It would seem logical that Margaret was born between 1822 & 1832. No details of her husband William are given here.
Margaret is stated to be buried in St. Michaels Cemetery, Irish Block, Sydenham Township.

3. Jane also lists William Cameron, born Jun 1831, to John Cameron & Isabella MacPhail, Family 9. v.
Other siblings born in 1823, 1825, 1827, 1829, ___ 1833, 1835, 1837, 1839, 1842, & 1846. Listing of dates is quite complete and if accurate, William could have been born in 1831. His death is stated to be 1902. No details of his wife Margaret are given here.
William is stated to be buried in St. Michaels Cemetery, Irish Block, Sydenham Township.

4. St. Michaels Cemetery, Irish Block, Sydenham Township has ONE listing for William Cameron & Margaret Cameron:
William Cameron died 29 Nov 1902, age 73. Margaret Cameron wife died 31 Dec 1903, age 76
These dates conflict with the date of 29 Nov 1903 in para 2, looking as if William & Margaret death dates were merged into one.
Also buried are 3 children who died prior to the 1881 census, but two, John and William A. show up in the Census
John Cameron died 19 May 1903, age 43. William Cameron died 7 Feb 1915, age 66.

5. As Jane has stated both the Margaret Cameron (above) and the William Cameron (above) were both buried in St. Michaels Cemetery, it would seem safe then to assume these two first cousins were married.

6. 1881 Canadian Census: William Cameron age 55; Margaret Cameron age 53; John Cameron age 22; Isabella age 12.

7. 1901 Canadian Census: William Cameron age 77, born Mar 1824; Margaret Cameron age 73, born Dec 1827; William A. Cameron age 48, born Mar 1852; and Bell (Isabella) Cameron age 31, born 12 Feb 1869.

8. Using the data from the 1881 Census; 1901 Census; and the Cemetery...
William could have been born in 1826; Mar 1824; and 1829. (Jane states Jun 1831)
Margaret could have been born in 1828; Dec 1827; and 1827
Margaret date of birth would very likely be Dec 1827, but Willims could be anywhere from 1824 thru 1831.

9. Looking at their children and the Cemetery listing:
Alexander A died Apr 1868, age 7, would have been born 1861.
Isabella (1st) died Apr 1868, age 14, would have been born 1854.
John died May 1903, age 43, would have been born 1860. (1881 Census born about 1859)
William A. died Feb 1915, age 66, would have been born 1849. (1901 Census born Mar 1852)

10. Looking at the children shown on the 1881 Census, births run from 1853 thru 1869.

11. It is not possible to determine from the children's ages, the date of their father's birth.

12. So using the supplied info William could have been born:
Jane- Jun 1831; Cemetery- 1829; 1881 Census- 1826; and 1901 Census- Mar 1824 He was baptized on 14 June 1831 in Sydenham Township, Grey County, Ontario, Canada, at St. Andrew's RC Church.
