Family History Library Microfilm: MS932_26 They appeared in the census on 4 April 1881 in Normanby Township, Grey County, Ontario, Canada. If this is Janet Reid who was first married to Agustus Wagner, then to Robert Crozier, according to the notes received from Bev Flinn, then the census below would fit in nicely. It would appear that Agustus Wagner died sometime after Jas. Thomas WAGNER conception, or after 1874. This would explain the Croziers & Wagners in one family. The odd person is Jessy Frasor (Fraser) who could be Janet's sister Sarah's child. Sarah Reid married Thomas Fraser Jr. (no birth or marriage dates at this point)and she is indicated to have died in 1881. One further point, Janet's father James lived in Normanby, Grey South, the same as this census.

Transcription Error on Surname They were married. Charles Robertson was instrumental in getting the first log school built in what was known as the Morley district. He was the first school trustee of what was to be U.S.S. No. 15 (North), St. Vincent and Sydenham. He was also the first elder of the Johnstone Presbyterian Church.
Their son, David, followed his father on the early settled farm and he and his wife, Jane Fettes, were outstanding in the community. Their family attended the Morley School and went on to be useful citizens in various walks of life. Included were: Michael, Margaret, Charles, Isabel, David, Robert, Janet and Allen. Michael and Allen both served in the First World War.
A treasured possession in the Robertson family is a story written by Mrs. David Robertson regarding her father, Michael Fettes. She wrote of her father leaving his home on the borderland between England and Scotland, and coming to Canada in 1842. Landing at York, now Toronto, he was directed to Holland Landing. Here he obtained the work which he was seeking at a large farm owned by a widow, whose foreman was Mr. Charles Robertson.
When working together one day, Mr. Robertson asked the newcomer how he liked the country. The reply came quickly, "I don't like it at all. As soon as I earn enough money to take me back home I'll be off." "But man," said Mr. Robertson, "you are very foolish, this is the country for young men to make a start in life - a person will get homesick sometimes." That touched young Michael Fettes' pride. "Homesick" was a childish word to him.
And so it was the acquaintance grew into a bond of affection which lasted as long as they lived. In November, 1844, Mr. Robertson sent for Michael Fettes to come to St. Vincent. A road was mapped out for him, by Barrie, Staynor, Collingwood, Meaford and on to Cape Rich, where he chanced to meet Mr. James Carson, who gave him further directions to the townline.
It was a long walk through practically virgin forest for the young farmer and his possessions, three head of cattle, which he drove ahead of him. He chose a grant of land further west from the Robertson farm, being captivated by the never failing spring, which to him seemed as valuable as the land, and through the years it has proved its worth and been of inestimable value. Children were: Jane Fettes (Fettis)-8481, Catharine Fettes (Fettis)-8590, James Fettes (Fettis)-8591, Michael Fettis (Fettes)-8592.
