A native of Sydenham Township, Russel S. Hill, passed away suddenly Wednesday February 13th at the General and Marine Hospital. He was 80. Born at Balaclava, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Hill. a farmer, he resided on the home farm where he was born, and farmed it for 45 years, before retiring to Owen Sound, Ontario, in 1975 Surviving is his wife, the former Mary Jane Morrison, whom he married in 1931, three sisters Hazel and Clara Hill of Owen Sound, Ontario and Mrs. Mabel Graff of Hanover, Ontario. Mr Hill served with the Merchant Navy during the World War II. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Owen Sound Branch No. 6, also a member of the Sarawak Orange Lodge No. 1302. Upon retiring he became a very active member of the Georgian Bay Steam Club, restoring and displaying antique tractors for which he received numberous awards. The funeral was held from Breckenridge-Ashcroft Funeral Home on Friday, February 15th. Interment in Greenwood Cemetary.
